The Big Texas Snow–February 2010

How are all of you? Are you able to get out of your driveway?

We here in South East Texas, are having a snow day!

What do we do when we have snow like this? We shut down our city, that’s what we do! City offices-closed, Dollar General-closed, gasp!  Thursday Morning when Little Brother got here from work, he announced that it was snowing in the city where he works. We look outside, and it is coming down pretty good. It snows all day, with bigger flakes, and falling harder all the time. By dark when it is really covered, we hear that Nephew has spun out in his car in a neighboring town. He is fine though, his friend’s mom came to pick him and his friend up from the store where they were.

Little Brother decides that he will attempt to make it to work, but first he will test out the roads by driving to the local gas station. He asks me to go with him. We get out to his truck, and have to dig out the windshield and hood from under around five inches of snow.

On the way out of the driveway, he keeps saying “I didn’t know that it would be this bad out here.” Then when we get to the gas station, they’re credit card lines are down, so no gas for us.

We come home and settle down to watch movies and such, and thirty minutes later……..the power goes out. So we light candles, and read devotions, the settle down to listen to a few Sherlock Holmes CDs. This morning the power was still out, so we went over to Aunties and made breakfast. Of course by the time, we come home eat and break out the board games, the power came back on.

So that has been our last two days? How was yours? Oh and if you live in Texas, let me know what you did for fun in the Big Texas Snow!

Blessings, Peace, Success, and Warmth!
